Timescales

2019

In 2019, Onyx was contracted to carry out the initial phase of fire safety works within the basement of the Grade I-listed Natural History Museum in Kensington, London.

The compartmentation work included:

Replacement of all non-compliant timber and steel fire doors to BM Trada Q-Mark fire door installation standards.

Installation of fire stopping to all breaches within compartments in the basement (This was carried out to BM Trada Q-Mark Fire Stopping Installation standards).

Replacement of 31 existing fusible link fire dampers with upgraded MFSD models with a new central control panel that interfaces with the existing fire alarm panel.

To ensure compliance within the building as part of the handover process, O&Ms were produced to the client so this would be on file on site. These documents included full product details and data sheets, along with floorplans highlighting locations of all installations.

As home to life and earth science specimens comprising some 80 million items and being Grade I listed with plenty of period features, our craftsmanship had to be of the highest possible standard, carried out only by industry-accredited staff members.

Chapter - Kings Cross

Onyx was approached by global property management company, Greystar Real Estate Partners, to replace the basement fire door sets in their flagship student accommodation residence, Chapter Kings Cross.

Dulwich College

In 2020 we were contracted to carry out Passive fire improvement work at the Grade II listed Dulwich College, an independent school in South London.

Twickenham Stadium

In 2019, Onyx replaced 119 fire doors for the first phase of an installation project at Twickenham Stadium, the home of English rugby.
